Service Description
We are running a weekly Hub School for Home School students, Commencing 14th November, for 5 x Tuesdays, 1.30 - 3pm. How do things Fly ? This course will look at concepts behind flight. How we can use this topic to inform creative expression. Included in each session will be cross curricula connections with: - Maths - Science - Geography - Art - History - English At the end of the course, students will have achieved outcomes related to the current syllabus for each of the subject areas. Each session will have a creative arts focus on how the topic is expressed by artists using a variety of mediums. After examining the cross curricula connections of the weekly topic, students will then work on their own creative response to the information gathered during the lesson. This may be in a variety of forms such as creative writing, poetry, sketching and painting or a combination of these. Students will be given a workbook and art materials, which they will add to each week as they build upon their knowledge, skills and understanding. Weekly topics will be linked using scaffolded learning processes in a wholistic approach that promotes wellbeing, safety, responsibility and respect for ourselves and others as global citizens. At the end of this program, students will have a workbook of information and a completed artwork to demonstrate their personal response to the 5 week program. The program will be delivered by Antony Bunyan, who has put the program together with Susan Curtin, to share their methods of teaching and learning in this unique course. Anthony and Susan are both qualified teachers with vast experience delivering cross curricula programs to students with a broad range of needs and interests. Both believe in the value and benefits of reciprocal teaching and learning within an inclusive learning environment. The program costs $175 for the five weeks and includes all materials.
